Overview
The luxurious Roi Soleil is one of the finest vessels
cruising the beautiful and hisoric Canal du Midi. On her
decks you'll find gorgeous mahogany and brass
furnishings arranged in a contemporary and comfortable
setting. The stylish salon features a fireplace and bar
with panoramic views through no less than 20 windows.
Combined with the elegant dining area, you'll enjoy a
level of comfort equivalent to that of luxury motor
yachts.
The separate forward sun deck, the aft
teak deck with spa pool, the outside dining area under
the retractable canopy, are all pure luxury. Climb
aboard, and you soon agree that Roi Soleil has much to
offer.
Owners Guillaume and Tracey de Perthuis
closely supervise the crew of 4 (chef, guide, hostess
and pilot) through their frequent visits and constant
liaising with the crew onboard. Captain Finnegan
Campfens, who is trained as a merchant navy officer, has
been on board since Roi Soleil's inaugural
season.
Roi Soleil is a child-friendly boat. They
welcome children onboard and offer a wide range of
activities to suit your children's age. A fourth cabin
is also available for a nanny in the crew quarters if
required. Excursions can be arranged to thrill both
children and adults, and the onboard chef will cater to
their food choices. You will enjoy this family holiday!

Cruise Highlights
Beziers to Carcassonne The breathtaking
Canal du Midi is reason enough to choose this region for
your barge holiday. It is lined by 45,000
shade-providing trees as it links the Mediterranean Sea
to the Atlantic ocean. On the voyage, you'll visit the
tranquil Languedoc region, famous for sophisticated
wines and unique architecture.
Being on charter
means that you can tailor the excursions according to
your special interests. You can choose from a number of
fascinating excursions including some of the following
regional highlights.
Historic Tours and
Architecture - Follow the path of civilization as
you visit prehistoric Grecco-Iberian sites, Gallic
Dolmens, search for evidence of the Roman presence in
Narbonne, marvel at medieval architecture and visit
magnificent abbeys. Along the way you might visit sites
like the Oppidum of Enserune, Fontfroide, Lagrasse, and
the stunning Cite de Carcassonne, the famous walled
city.
Art, History, & Antiques - While
visiting Narbonne, you might like to view some of its
fine treasures found in its cathedral and art museum.
Complete the journey with a visit to a local antique
dealer whose friendliness is on par with his impeccable
taste.
For the Gourmand - Olives, Wine,
and Muscat. If these three words have you salivating,
then you will love the Languedoc region. Here you can
sample olives and olive oil at the Olibo Olive Oil Mill
(one of the most prized in France), tour top vineyards
and sample their delictable wines, and round off the
trilogy with Muscat Petit Grain of St Jean de Minervois,
the prime muscat in France. As if this isn't enough, Roi
Soleil's Provencal chef will be happy to demonstrate his
specialties in the open kitchen - while you watch with
wine in hand, of course!
Natural Sites and
Village Life - The geography of the region is very
rich and extremely diverse with spectacular sites
varying from the Mediterranean to the inland mountains
with deep gorges. Tour beautiful Minerve, dotted in
vineyards or explore hidden valleys such as St Chinian
and Roquebrun. The village life follows the rhythm of
the vine and harvest and the traditional, open-air
markets.
Other Activities - If walking
along the canal or bicycling alongside the barge is not
enough, there are plenty of other activities to choose
from. Try swimming at the Mediterranean beaches or in
river gorges, explore the hills by hiking or on
horseback. Other optional activities can be arranged
such as taking a scenic flight over medieval castles,
soaring over the countryside in a hot air balloon,
rafting, four-wheeling, caving, windsurfing, and more.
