Welcome to the impressive and spacious luxury of Prospérité, cruising centuries-old canals through
the verdant fields and picturesque villages of provincial France.
Expressly designed and constructed to meet the expectations of upscale travelers desiring to experience the
luxury of barge travel in France, this impressive craft features a level of accommodations unmatched on
France's inland waters. Prospérité cruises under the capable hands of Captain Spencer Hayes,
a veteran in the French waterways who has been cruising the region for many years.
Time seems to stand still as the barge slowly motors by quaint stone churches and well-kept houses,
periodically pausing at moss-covered locks, as it makes its leisurely way from one town to the next.
You can catch up on your reading on deck, enjoy a delicious, well-prepared repast from the fully equipped
kitchen or simply relax to the gentle sounds of water lapping against the hull, and enjoy the quiet
sensation that comes with unplugging yourself from the 24/7 world on a luxury barge cruise.

The posh accommodations found on Prospérité rival that of many of the finest hotels found in Europe. The extremely spacious
cabins, each around 250 square feet in size, all offer a private bathroom with a tub and separate shower.
You won't miss any of the comforts of home during your voyage.
The vessel can accommodate up to 8 passengers and cabins can be configured with either two oversized twin beds or one king sized bed.
Cabins also feature central heating and air conditioning as well as heated towel racks for extra comfort.

Sunday - You'll be met in the afternoon at your Paris hotel and chauffeured via Mercedes Minivan to Prospérité
at anchor in Tanlay on the Canal de Bourgogne. Dinner is the first of many gourmet meals on board.
Monday - Cruise the idyllic Canal de Bourgogne to Ancy-le-Franc. You will cruise through spectacular countryside, great for
bicycling on the towpaths and exploring small villages that line the canal. In the afternoon, visit the 16th century Château at
Ancy-le-Franc. The interior envelopes you in history: lofty carved ceilings, the Italian tiled floors, frescos and friezes.
The château contains one of the finest collections of mural paintings in France from the 17th century. Painters from Burgundy,
Flanders, and the School of Fontainbleau, have realized their masterpieces here. The château stands in a beautiful park on a
romantic island - and even includes 18th century folly!
Tuesday - Enjoy a morning excursion and private winetasting in Chablis, whose vineyards date back to Roman times. A scenic
afternoon cruise to the village of Ravieres and a gourmet dinner complete the day.
Wednesday - This morning you'll tour the Medieval port city of Auxerre. Auxerre is a pretty riverside town with picturesque
squares, narrow lanes and half-timbered houses. The best place to admire its beauty is from the river where you'll see church spires
and belfries rise above the rooftops.
Probably the most impressive of the religious buildings is the Gothic Cathedral St. Etienne which was built spanning a period of three
centuries and famous for its intricate stained glass. Join the Prospérité guide for a walking tour, then return to the
barge where you'll enjoy a cruise to Montbard in the afternoon through glorious scenery.
Thursday - Tour the Forges de Buffon, home and garden of Georges-Louis de Buffon, an 18th century naturalist, mathematician and
biologist whose work influenced Darwin. The afternoon's cruise is to Venarey-les-Laumes where you'll enjoy dinner ashore at a fine
restaurant.
Friday - Your morning cruise to Pouillenay is followed by a visit to the 12th century Abbaye de Fontenay. The well-preserved
old abbey of Fontenay, situated in wooded country northwest of Dijon, gives a vivid impression of life in a 12th century Cistercian
house. The church, founded by Bernard of Clairvaux, is one of France's oldest surviving Cistercian churches, with a magnificent
cloister. The Captain's Dinner ends your cruise in style.
Saturday - It is a sad farewell as you depart in the morning and are chauffeured back to Paris.
PLEASE NOTE: An optional all-day excursion south to the Cote d'Or will be offered in 2008. Guests will taste wine at a top
vineyard and explore enchanting Beaune - with its gorgeously preserved medieval hospice and chic shops.
